In Worms Head, Marion Thomas transforms the sweeping Gower Peninsula seascape into a study of rhythm, light, and movement. The dramatic sky, with its heavy, layered clouds pierced by a glowing sun, casts shifting tones of blue and gold across the wide expanse of sand. Bold, flowing brushstrokes trace the tidal patterns left behind. Both abstracted and rooted in place, the painting captures the elemental drama of sea and sky while reflecting the meditative stillness of the shoreline at low tide.
Marion Thomas is a Welsh artist based in Caerphilly. Her work celebrates the drama of Welsh mountains, coastlines, and post-industrial sites reclaimed by nature. During the Covid pandemic, she created her Isolation Paintings, placing small figures within familiar landscapes as a reflection of memory and longing. Marion has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2018, 2023), the Welsh Contemporary Exhibition (2023), and participated in Landscape Artist of the Year at Hever Castle.
